The display is probably the first thing on a smartphone that gets scratched or damaged. The fact is it is the most used part of a smartphone, so the wear and tear is understandable.
But modern devices’ display prices are high and getting them repaired can sometimes come around the cost of a budget phone. Well, Google has an answer for this, especially for the 2021 mid-ranger Pixel 5a.
Google has announced a one-year extended repair program that will also cover the display-related issues of the device. Notably, this program is available for Pixel 5a users in the US and Japan.
The Google Pixel 5a isn’t even a year old and is getting the extended warranty treatment from the company. This is because there were several user reports regarding “display failures that show as a blank or black screen when the phone is on or may be covered.”
Speaking of the display, the Google Pixel 5a comes with a 6.34-inch FHD+ display. There is a hole punch located at the top-left corner, which houses the front-facing camera.
Eligible Pixel 5a devices will receive a free display repair for up to one year
If your Pixel 5a has a damaged screen, then you can take your device to Asurion or uBreakiFix locations. This is only for users in the United States. Alternatively, you can also mail in your phone for repair after contacting Pixel Support in both countries.
Eligible Google Pixel 5a devices under this program, will receive a free repair for up to one year. The best part about this program is that Google has already narrowed down and contacted users already experiencing display issues with their Pixel 5a and has paid for the repair.
If you weren’t contacted by Google regarding your issue, then there is a form online, that you need to fill in. Do note that it requires the IMEI number of your Google Pixel 5a and proof of repair.
Do note that you can fill in this form only if you have paid for your device’s repair prior to June 30, 2022. The Google Pixel 5a has had its fair share of issues and this program is similar to the one that Google announced for Pixel 4 XL and battery issues.
