Indonesia Open Badminton LIVE – Sameer Verma vs Lee Zii Jia – After the shock exits of India’s top players PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth in the first round, Sameer Verma and HS Prannoy are the only remaining Indians in the Indonesian Open. Indonesia Open Badminton LIVE – While Sameer Verma will face sixth seed Lee Zii Jia in the second round. HS Prannoy will be up against Hong Kong’s Angus Ng Ka Long.

Meanwhile, India’s Women’s Doubles duo of Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy will face China’s top seed Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan.

Men’s doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun will take on China’s unseeded Liu Yu Chen and Ou Xuan Yi.

Sameer Verma vs Lee Zii Jia

Sameer Verma faces a big challenge in the second round of the Indonesian Open as he will be up against World No.5 Lee Zii Jia. World No.30 Verma had a poor year so far as apart from reaching the quarterfinal at the Swiss Open, he entered the second round in only a single tournament out of the five tounrmanets he played this year. He is looking to make his second quarterfinal appearance in a tournament this year but it is going to be very difficult this year.

Meanwhile, Zii Jia started the year with semifinal appearances at German Open and All England Championships. He then won his first title this year at the Thailand Open. He also made it to the quarterfinal at the Indonesian Masters. At the Indonesian Open, in the first round he defeated Sitthikom Thammasin in straight sets.

This will be the seventh meeting between both these players. The Malaysian leads the head-to-head record 4-2. They last met in the Thailand Open last year, with Sameer Verma winning the contest in three sets. Lee Zii Jia is however the overwhelming favourite ahead of the upcoming contest.

HS Prannoy vs Angus Ng Ka Long

Parannoy has been in a sensational form this year and it was showcased in the last game against Lakshya Sen with the way he dominated the proceedings. Prannoy missed the Indonesian Masters to prepare himself for this event. His best performance this year is the runner-up at Swiss Open this year. He was unbeaten in the Thomas Cup and played a crucial role in India’s title-winning campaign.

Meanwhile, Angus started the year with a first round exit at the German Open by losing against Prannoy. He then made a second round exit at All England Championships. His best performance this year is reaching the quarterfinal at Indonesia Masters.

This will be the eighth time both these players will face each other. Angus leads the head-to-head record 4-3. They recently met at the German Open this year with Prannoy winning the game in straight sets. The upcoming contest is going to be an interesting battle.

Doubles – Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy VS Chen Quingchen and Jia Yi Fan

In the doubles,Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy will be up against a big challenge as they face China’s top seeds Chen Quingchen and Jia Yi Fan. While Ponnappa-Reddy pair defeated Indo American duo Srivedya Gurazada and Ishika Jaiswal in straight sets in the first round, the Chinese pair won in three sets against Baek Ha-na Lee-Yu-rin.

M.R. Arjun and Dhruv Kapila got the better of higher ranked Japanese pair of Kelichiro Matsui and Yoshinori Takeuchi 27-25, 18-25, 21-19 in the first round and the Indian pair will face China’s unseeded Liu Yu Chen and Ou Xuan Yi.
